The World Junior U19 Badminton Championships are coming to Canada in November 2018

When: Nov 5-10 (Team Championship) Nov 11-18 (Individual Championships)

Where: Markham Atos Pan AM Centre

Badminton Ontario currently has a group of 70 Line judges who have officiated at the last 3 Pan Am events held in Canada. With the upcoming World Juniors we will need to double our number of line judges. We are looking for anyone interested in volunteering to be a line judge. This is a fantastic opportunity for people to have a court side seat at a BWF World Championship. Having participated as both an umpire and a line judges at the last 3 Pan Am Championships in Toronto, I can guarantee the games will be exciting.

We have line judge training sessions set up over the next few months. Here is what it involves:

Training

· The next training sessions will be held at the Toronto Junior HP – Toronto Granite, Feb 24/25 and the Toronto Junior Elite (National Jr Circuit) at Humber College March 10-11

· Training session involves a 30 minute overview and instructions followed by on court practice

The World Juniors

· Volunteers are not required to volunteer for the entire 14 days. You may volunteer for particular days (full, morning, afternoons or evenings)

· The dress for line judges is black pants, tops, and shoes

· During the games meals are provided for volunteers and parking at the Pan Am is free

· There is no specific age limit for line judges , students are welcome to volunteer as well

· You do not have to be a badminton player to volunteer
